Come To The Edge: Guest Post by Catherine Maguire

Sea Cliffs by Kevin Tuck

Come to the Edge…

Come to the edge, Life said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, Life said.
They came. It pushed them…
And they flew.

I am standing at the edge.  But I am afraid to take flight.

What if the wind does not catch me, and I fall.

Down, down, down.

My pride hurt, my faith damaged.

But I must take flight.

There is a deep desire burning inside me.

This space that I inhabit is now too small.

I have outgrown it.

And so I stand on the edge, poised,

desperate to take flight and terrified that I will fail.

2 kids, 2 dogs, 1 mortgage, 2 cars, 7 ducks, 4 chickens,

numerous family and friends all inhabit this space.

Who will care for them when I am gone?

But I know I cannot stay.

There is a song in my heart that so desperately needs to be sung.

I shuffle my feet, leaning ever so slightly over the edge.

The words of my friend whisper to me.

“Don’t die with your music still in you.  This is your time.”

What happens if I don’t even try?

What happens if I cannot be brave?

I close my eyes dreaming of the faraway lands to which I wish to travel.

I feel the warmth of these beautiful places infuse my bones,

with the energy of potential and of new beginnings.

Of sunrises and sunsets yet to be explored.

I step out, reaching for the horizon…

And I am caught by the warm thermals.

The Adventure begins.

I was searching for a trip to Ireland I want to go by my self and the came here, maybe this is a sign, beautiful words and so true we must be brave and do the things we want.
Will check her page out, thanks for sharing.

    • Doris, the web of Life is truly amazing! I had intended to publish Catherine’s post on Tuesday but inadvertently clicked Publish while making final formatting changes. What are the chances that all that would have occurred right when you were searching for something totally different from what you usually find here? I’ll be interested to know how the synchronicity unfolds with you. Catherine is an absolute sweetheart, and I’m sure she would gladly answer any questions you might have about Ireland. Have a wonderful weekend! Love & Light, Sloan

  3. Beautiful words and so true! Taking a step into the unknown is not easy…

    • Indeed, Jenny. As I know you know, courage is not about being unafraid. It is about moving forward, right past our fears. It is rarely an easy thing to do; but, when we let faith, hope, and love guide the way, the reward is always worth the effort.
Thanks for reading and commenting. Love & Light, S
