Welcome!

The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness.

Lao Tzu

Mike004I read a book several years ago, entitled “The Aspiring Mystic.”  I was very impressed by the book but more so by its author, Carl McColman. He explained that he had named the book “The Aspiring Mystic” because that title actually described him very well. He did not claim to be “enlightened” or a mystic. He was aspiring, however, to become both. I believe it would be fair to say that I am an aspirant, as well.

I aspire to become fully enlightened, although I am not 100% certain exactly what that means. I aspire to fully understand all that I can about who and what I am. I aspire to be completely healed of every malady, complex, or other imperfection that inhibits me. I am finding that these aspirations are a life-work, but I can imagine no more satisfying work than this.

Mahatma Gandhi once challenged us all to “Be the change you want to see in the world.”  That statement requires a lot of us. We cannot change anything we do not understand. We cannot understand anything without changing. Through my own personal journey, I have come to understand much about healing, happiness, and what the “peace that passes understanding” actually means. Those understandings have changed the course and path of my life; and my heart is filled with gratitude.

I would like to say there was one moment when it all came together, and I saw everything clearly. But that was not the case. My redemption did not come in an instant. Self-realization and healing are processes that rarely occur over night. The journey within that leads to  healing and growth is still, very much, ongoing for me. The difference for me now is that, when I find myself feeling lost and afraid, I know how to find my way back to the place of refuge that lies within me.

Just as importantly, I now have a foundation of authentic happiness (one built on  positive thinking and a gratitude attitude) that promotes the healing process and is helping me with my personal transformation into all that I am capable of becoming.

Over the last few years, I have had a lot of encouragement and support from friends and loved ones. But I have also had the support and encouragement of strangers I never met — people who shared a little bit of themselves and their experiences with me through the written word.  We are all students and teachers alike. My hope is that I can give a little something back to Life and to anyone who needs encouragement and support, as they travel along on their own personal journey of healing, happiness, and self-realization.

Every experience we have in humanity affects the soul’s evolution. There are many ways to have experiences with other people in Life.  This site is just one of them.

There is, indeed, nothing new under the sun.  But there are different ways of telling it.

  36. My truth of enlightenment, is when we arrive at that place, where the imperfections of the world no longer affect us. Where we are in Our alignment with Source Energy or God. “Our alignment” meaning, surrounding one’s self good feelings, happy people and situations… where heaven on earth is a state of mind, and you’ve entered it. Everything perceived, comes through that lens. This to me is enlightenment.

But the truth remains that embracing Change is easier spoken of than done. Change, by its very nature, would shift us into an unknown and uncomfortable space. So what really is needed to sustain and go forward? To me this comes from a crystal clear vision and a passion to achieve. How many of us hold an alignment of these two aspects in our lives?

  66. I finished reading your book late Saturday evening. It did speak volumes of wisdom to me and your observations on depression and healing were accurate to my own experiences. (And probably to a lot of us, as well) I do hope you consider writing another book. To me, at least, the topic of self-transcendence would be a nice topic–but that is your choice.

    All the best

    • Thank you for your kind words, John. I’m so glad you enjoyed the book. There will be another book. It will be just as interesting for me as anyone else to see how it develops. Have a beautiful weekend! Blessings, Sloan
