Sloan’s Book

There are millions of people in transition today, i.e., in the process of personal and spiritual transformation. The transformation process can be simultaneously frightening and awe-inspiring. Existential pain often precedes spiritual growth; thus, many find it difficult to stay the course. For those who do, something awakens within them and they realize, perhaps for the first time, they can find joy and peace. With this realization, their journey takes on new depth and meaning.

If you are in transition, you likely have experienced the loneliness and sense of confusion that often accompanies transformation. I understand because I have been there. Not so many years ago, I could not imagine what it would feel like to wake up excited and grateful for a new day. Chronic stress, overcoming obstacles, and bouts with depression had become a way of life for me. I wanted to change — to feel better, to live better, and to be happy — but I did not know how to do it. Ultimately, my pain and depression led to  a near death experience and a series of catastrophic, life altering events. Fortunately, I survived them; and, today, my life is remarkably different. With a renewed spirit and a restructured mentality, I learned how to create authentic happiness, peace, and joy in my life. Out of gratitude, I have written a guide for others who find themselves on a similar path.

Taming The Invisible Dragon: Healing, Happiness & Self-Realization is a guide to personal and spiritual transformation that includes insights and hard-earned wisdom that I obtained on my personal journey to change my mind and my life. It gives the reader an open and honest account of what I learned, how I learned it, and how the process worked for me. And it assures those in transition they are not alone.

More than anything, Taming The Invisible Dragon is a book about hope. It is a gentle and empowering book that introduces the reader to new perspectives and walks them through the key components of personal and spiritual growth. It explains the process of transformation and provides the practical wisdom they will need to uproot negative thought patterns and to resolve the emotional pain that has prevented them from creating authentic happiness in their own lives.

By understanding how negative thought patterns have contributed to our unhappiness and discontent, we can take hold of the thoughts that once took hold of us. We can learn to love ourselves and to love Life itself. We can let go of what has hindered us from creating the experiences we truly desire and embrace the better tomorrows that might have previously seemed beyond our reach.

Taming The Invisible Dragon is an inspiring and insightful book that empowers those in transition with a wide variety of information, exercises, and perspectives that can help them heal their wounds, change their minds, and improve their lives.

“I wish I could say that I do not self-indulge in self-help books. I do though. In my defense. I read all types of books ranging from scientific manuals to simple fiction. One thing that I feel has been missing from spiritual journey books is quality, clear writing with a humble narrative. This book tells a story, not as a drippy victim who overcame her odds. Nor is it a hero adventure that says, ‘I did this, you can too’ . . . NOW . . . buy my book and go to my seminar.  It is a humble, honest look at one’s life with practical, loving experiential ways of how she has dealt and continues to deal with her experiences. It is quite a story and you can hear her voice the entire time. There is zero delusion and 100% completeness in the book Now, if only I could form my sentences as well to express my gratitude for her book. I hope she writes more.”

“I read this book in a weekend. It is a thoroughly helpful, inspiring book…and I’ve read quite a few self-help style books in my life attempting to better myself. What is different about this one, it is more of a roadmap to help you transform yourself. Sloan Rawlins went through a very difficult time, yet, talks more about the techniques and methods she used to transform herself, bring herself back into wholeness, and live a life she loves. This guide, if you will, helps anyone who is on the path to self-discovery, self-actualization, or self-realization. It describes how to get there, versus simply telling you it’s necessary to do it. Many books talk about the why you need to help yourself, but not too many describe how to help yourself. She doesn’t preach or teach, she simply shares what worked for her in the hopes something she shares will help you transform you. I’m a yoga teacher, Reiki Teacher & Master & Life Coach…I’ve been through my own trials and tribulations (of course, who hasn’t?), and I wish I would have had this book 15 years ago! Namaste!” –  Heather Lang
“Sloan Rawlins has learned, through her own transformation, what experts and researches spend years trying to learn. She writes an amazing guide for anyone wanting to embrace change and experience a more fulfilling life. As a professional in the mental health field, I highly recommend this book. She has a tremendous amount of knowledge and insight into personal transformation.” – – Kristin Barton Cuthriell

“I finished reading your book late Saturday evening. It did speak volumes of wisdom to me and your observations on depression and healing were accurate to my own experiences. (And probably to a lot of us, as well) I do hope you consider writing another book. To me, at least, the topic of self-transcendence would be a nice topic–but that is your choice.

All the best”

“The book is inspiring on many levels for individuals who are experiencing a dark night of the soul, physical or emotional healing crisis, or major relationship transition and evolution, especially relationships with the self and the divine. Sloan applies the timeless tenets of gratitude, faith, positive thinking, and forgiveness to the journey we take to a more sane, loving, and peaceful life. She addresses the powerful feelings of guilt and shame that afflict many of us, and the thorny topic of how retribution is tied to shame.

Many good people have learned from the socialization process to give too much. Sloan describes how we can learn how much to give to the world and when to exercise self compassion and take care of ourselves and our well being. Service to others is essential to our well being as is self compassion; Sloan helps us to learn to balance both.

Important aspects of her work are the factors of free will in humans and suffering as a portal to growth and healing. One particularly beautiful story involves her concept of the “on-time” God and how faith might unfold for others. She points out the difference between staying alive and feeling alive and reminds us to keep our dreams energized. Her stories touch hearts, bring laughter, and give hope.” – Hannah-Leigh Bull

“In sharing her amazing journey, and what she’s learned along the way, Sloan Rawlins gently leads readers to a better place within themselves. This book changes people’s lives in wondrous, beautiful ways. Sloan deeply touches the hearts of others. I treasure her book and will turn to it time and again. Moreover, I greatly enjoyed reading her suburb writing. Read the book to learn how to “overcome”, so you can “become” the person you were meant to be.” – C.M. Fitzgerald
